“Beautiful hotel, great parks and awesome tours. Lots walking,so bring comfy shoes, bug spray and brush up on your Spanish.”

“My wife and I just returned from a one week stay at Hotel Xcaret. We stayed at Casa Fuego and went to four parks: Xenses, Xel-Ha, Xplor, and Xcaret Park.We had a lovely time and wanted to leave a detailed review to praise the wonderful staff and give some information to others considering a visit to Hotel Xcaret.Casa Fuego - Since my wife and I do not have kids, we decided to upgrade our stay to the adults-only Casa Fuego. We are so glad that we did!It is more expensive, but definitely worth it!The ocean views are the best in the whole resort. We had two exclusive pools including the rooftop pool with the water bridge that you see in all the pictures. We had access to eat at Casa Fuego, which was my favorite restaurant. We had our own lobby and private check-in when we arrived, which really made me feel like a VIP! They also upgraded our room when we arrived so that we had a private patio.Best of all, Casa Fuego guests have a butler (actually two, since they work in teams). Ours were Ernesto and Penelope, who were incredibly helpful and attentive. They helped us with all of our questions and issues. They even escorted us to restaurants as we were familiarizing ourselves with the layout of the resort. Their English was perfect, but they were very kind in accommodating our preference to speak primarily in Spanish (even though our Spanish skills are quite rusty!)Overall we are so glad that we decided to stay at Casa Fuego.Dining - The food everywhere was great. Restaurante Fuego was a stand-out for fine dining. We also loved Xin-Gao. We ate at both Fuego and Xin-Gao twice. You need to make reservations agead of time. We booked ours a month ahead and had no problems getting the times we wanted. We also had Las Cuevas on our first night, but we were a little underwhelmed as the meat was mostly fatty (we generally prefer leaner cuts of meat), however that is a matter of personal preference. My wife absolutely loved El Mercado breakfast buffet. We ate there four times and still wanted more! There are also snacks in the rooms, a fridge full of free drinks, unlimted free room service, and food carts throughout the site. Since it is all inclusive your only limit is your appetite! The only downside to the dining was that several accommodations had to me made due to COVID-19 precautions (See below).COVID-19 Accommodations - We were impressed by how thorough everyone was with precautions. It does mean that the wait for service at the buffets is a bigger factor, since you cannot get your own food. If you just want to get a pancake, you may have to wait for someone to finish making an omlette for another customer. The staff are doing the best they can to adapt to this new normal. Everyone on staff was wearing a mask, some wore both a mask and face shield. Nearly all the guests were wearing masks, except for certain activities(swimming or eating for example). They even give you a gift bag with a mask and hand sanitizer when you arrive. They clean the siteconstantly and hand sanitizer is everywhere. We had to postpone our trip initially due to COVID-19, and we debated cancelling it altogether out of concern for the pandemic, but I am glad we went. I felt safer from COVID at Xcaret hotel and parks than I do at my job in the USA.Tips - As an American I am used to tipping for meals and other serivces. No one here asks for nor expects a tip, but they are appreciated. I had a hard time finding out what a "normal" tip was, so I'll share what I did. I would usually tip about 20 pesos per drink to a bartender, about 50 pesos per person for most restaurants, and 200 pesos per person at the nicer restaurants (such as Fuego).I would usually give 20 pesos per person for additional services such as to the bus driver or luggage handler. And I left a 1,000 peso tip at the end of the week to each of the butlers (that applies to Casa Fuego only). Since tips aren't required or expected like they are in the USA, they were very appreciated by the staff.”
